Charlie’s hopes for an exciting season ahead
QPR forward Charlie Austin insists he is more determined than ever after joining the club permanently earlier this week.
After scoring eight goals in 21 appearances on loan from West Bromwich Albion, Austin returns to W12 with a clear goal ahead of the 2021/22 Championship campaign – to continue in some form of promotion into the second half of 2019/20.
“The fire in the belly is still here – and it’s probably bigger than ever now,†Charlie told www.qpr.co.uk.
“We didn’t achieve anything exactly last season, but we got away from the position we were in and that gave everyone in the dressing room confidence.
“There’s an exciting future ahead and it’s about what we can accomplish next season now? We want to take what we did for the second half of last season and replicate that for the whole of the season. coming season. “
Far from tarnishing his reputation at QPR since his homecoming in January, Austin now has the opportunity to engrave his name in Ranger folklore a little more.
“If things had stayed as they were [for the team], it wouldn’t have been fair for the club to sign me now – just like it wouldn’t have been fair for me to sign, “he said.
“But now it feels good. It’s the perfect match, in my opinion.
“I seem to be playing my best football here. I’m the happiest when I’m here and I think it showed in my first two stints. I think I played both on and off the pitch , certainly during my second visit, which has not been seen by the staff and the players on the training ground. “
Now the countdown is on for Rangers fans to not only return to Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium in August, but sing Charlie Austin’s name again.
His QPR story is far from over.
He said: “Getting all the fans back and Bianca (Charlie’s wife) and my kids too is something I’m really looking forward to.
“It’s great to be part of a winning team, and I got to come every day and enjoy the moment.
“Winning football games is fantastic and morale is constantly improving – just like the camaraderie with the guys the connection was there.
“I think everyone got to see it – the second half of last season was such a success.
“We have an exciting squad now and I’m sure what the fans saw will have given them even more excitement to come back to see us next season.
“We also have an exciting young team with a lot of experience. I hope that with their help and our performances we can have an exciting season ahead.
“I can’t wait to come back in front of them with a QPR jersey. I want to perform so they can cheer my name on again.”
What the fans saw will have made them want to come back to see us next season even more.
